Pringle Backs Parent Consortium in Bid to Halt School Closure

Mike Pringle MSP has backed a parent led consortium bidding to halt the closure of St. Margarets School in a move that has secured the backing of teachers and pupils. The parents are hoping to raise £2 million to secure the future of the school.

The administrator KPMG has said they are open to discussing the plan but unless funding is found quickly the school will close it's doors in the 29th of June.

Speaking at the Save St. Margaret's School public meeting on Sunday Mike Pringle MSP said

"I was deeply saddened by the news of financial trouble at St. Margaret's. If the school were to close it would obviously be a massive blow for pupils, teachers and parents. I visited just recently and it was fantastic to meet such an enthusiastic and dedicated group of staff and pupils.

"I am completely behind the parents bid. Any deal would be the first of its kind in Scotland so obviously there is a long and difficult road ahead but I am hopeful that with hard work St. Margaret's can be secured for the future."
