Paddy Ashdown lends Fred his support7.23.22pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 3rd May 2010
As the general election campaign enters its final week, Paddy Ashdown travelled to Edinburgh South on Saturday to lend Fred Mackintosh his support. Paddy joined Fred and Mike Pringle MSP in Bruntsfield at newly opened coffee shop The Chocolate Tree. Paddy explained that Edinburgh South is a straight fight between the Liberal Democrats and Labour. "With just 405 votes between Labour and the Liberal Democrats at the last general election it is clear that the Tories are out of the race here and can't win." Paddy also praised the Liberal Democrat campaign saying, "Fred has been running a really positive campaign here in Edinburgh South of which he can be very proud." Fred was delighted that Paddy took the time out to visit Edinburgh South, "having Paddy here has given the campaign a real boost as we enter the final stages. We have got some fantastic momentum with us now and the team are working really hard."
