Fred Mackintosh, the Scottish Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Edinburgh South has signed up to the national 10:10 campaign and has pledged to reduce his carbon emissions by 10% in 2010.
The campaign encourages individuals, businesses and organizations or all types to cut their own emissions by making simple changes that will have a wider effect in the fight against climate change.
Fred Mackintosh said, "I am pleased to have signed up to the 10:10 campaign, as it is the change we each make at home and at work that will really make a difference. Everybody can make a real difference cutting their own emissions or emissions in their workplace or school. Making small but significant changes to our lifestyles can have a major impact if millions make the change."
"I would like encourage everybody in Edinburgh South to sign up to the campaign regardless of their party politics as climate change is one of the most serious issues facing our world today. If everyone commits themselves to make their own 10% cuts in emissions in 2010 then we can help to achieve a greener and cleaner planet."
