Edinburgh's Open Space - Have Your Say5.01.04pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 9th Jun 2009
The Liberal Democrat led Council is seeking the views of local people into the open and green space in their area and across the City. A major consultation has now been launched and is available on-line. Liberal Democrat City Environment Leader Councillor Robert Aldridge, said, "Edinburgh has some fantastic open spaces but, like any city, these are finite and so we must make the most of what we have. We want to understand how the people of Edinburgh use their open spaces - and how we can help to improve their experience. We are particularly interested in the views of children, young people and parents." The results of the consultation, which runs until 10th July, will contribute to a city-wide open space strategy, to be published in draft by the Council for further discussion early next year. Local Liberal Democrat Westminster Spokesperson Fred Mackintosh said, "We should work hard to protect our open spaces. I cut my teeth as a community campaigner working to protect the Crawfurd Road playing field and Newington Campus. Local open space is essential for a sustainable community. Please go on-line and complete the questionnaire." You can access the consultation by following the links below:- Related Links:An interactive map of Edinburgh's Open Spaces.
