Pringle welcomes Freedom of Information Figures

12.00.00am GMT Mon 12th Mar 2007

Scottish Liberal Democrat Deputy Justice spokesperson Mike Pringle MSP has commented on the news that the rate of public body appeals to the Scottish Information Commissioner is double the rate of England.

Mr Pringle said:

"These figures show that Scottish democracy is healthy. I am heartened that public awareness of FOI laws has risen and that more of the general public than ever are making use of them.

"This fully justifies Liberal Democrat former Deputy First Minister Jim Wallace's introduction of a much stronger bill in Scotland than the rest of the United Kingdom."
